Description

Toccoa Falls, 186', 57m, one of the highest free falling waterfalls east of the Mississippi River. It is located in the Southern Appalachian Mountains in Chattahoochee National Forest, Georgia. On one terrible night on November 6, 1977, a dam upstream from here broke The resulting flood killed 39 & injured 60 people, most of them in Toccoa Falls College downstream from here. The dam was never rebuilt. This photo taken May 1975.
