In this rare view of the Toscano Hotel (flags flying, no people or cars in front) in Sonoma State Historic Park, it was built in 1851 and is the oldest commercial wood frame structure in Sonoma. The Sonoma barracks are on the right. The seven flags that have flown over Sonoma are, L-R: US; Rebel California Bear Flag; Republic of Mexico; Mexican Empire; Imperial Russia; English (by navigator Francis Drake); and Spain (by Cabrillo explorer). Image taken in 4x5 film format.
