Description
Paradise Inn on Mt. Rainier completely buried up to the third story by snow. In the background are Castle Peak (left) 6500', 1981m, & Pinnacle Peak (right) 6562', 2000m, in the Tatoosh Range. Paradise, at the 5400-foot level (1646m), broke the world's record for a winter swnowfall in the 1971-1972 season with 1122.5 inches (2851cm) until eclipsed by Mt. Baker (also a Cascade volcano) in the 1998-1999 season with 1140 inches (2896cm). Image taken in 4x5 film format, February 1973.
