Description
The 14000-foot peaks of the Palisade Crest in the Sierra Nevada, CA, seen from near Sierra Point in the White Mountains on 9-18-1970 at 7:20 AM. Kodak Contrast Pan B&W film was used and a 36" Dallmeyer lens, red and polarizing filter, and an 8x10 view camera were employed. Set-up required two tripods and is shown in image T-406405-A taken at the same time by Debby Cooper. This image woud be good to compare with another more recent late summer-early autumn view to gauge the amount of ice shrinkage in these largest of the Sierra Nevada glaciers. The highest peak is the North Palisade at 14242', 4341m, and is located just above Temple Crag, the large shadowed rock at upper right center.
