Description
Ed Cooper, left, and Jim Baldwin, right, 1938-1964, at the time we were climbing the Grand Wall of the Stawamish Chief, British Columbia, May 1961. Pictured behind us is the free cabin provided by the town of Squamish to stay in during the climb. It was the Kozy Motel (seen in image T-902907) now long gone, near the town entrance from the Sea to Sky Highway. This image was in a large group of negatives I lost in a fire in the 1960's, and the only existing print was a drugstore print about 3x3 inches. This image was made from a scan of that print. Also seen is my old 1951 Chevrolet Powerglide, a real clunker of a car. I wasted more breath swearing at this sluggish monster, and vowed that I would one day push it over a cliff as soon as I could afford a better vehicle. May 1961.
